Bruges Cardigan (English)
This pattern is in English.
The Bruges Cardigan has a relaxed, boxy style and is designed with a split hem that falls longer at the back. The dropped underarm creates a contemporary silhouette, while the fuller upper sleeve adds a bold, statement feel. Subtle textured detailing appears just before the ribbing on both the body and sleeves, complemented by a short double-knit feature along the button band before it transitions into ribbing,
First the back is worked back and forth with short rows to create shaping on the shoulders. Stitches are then picked up along the cast-on edge and further short rows worked for the perfect shoulder fit. Each front is worked back and forth with increases to create the V-neck shape. The fronts are joined with the back to work back and forth until your desired length is achieved. The fronts and back are then split to work a split hem with ribbing. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armhole and worked in the round with decreases to create a gentle taper towards the wrist. Lastly, stitches are picked up around the edge of the cardigan for the button band, which features a short section in double-knit followed by ribbing. The pattern is sent as a PDF via email.
