Totnes Sweater (English)
This pattern is in English.
Totnes Sweater is a cosy oversized sweater, worked from the
top down in Reverse Half Fisherman’s rib stitch. A saddle
shoulder construction paired with short rows creates a modern
shape with excellent fit and drape.
First the left and right saddle shoulders are worked and the
stitches put on hold to allow for a seamless transition into the
front and back of the sweater. Stitches are picked up along the
back edge of the shoulders to work back and forth with shortrow shaping. Stitches are then picked up along the left and
right fronts and worked back and forth whilst shaping the
neckline with short-row shaping and increases before joining.
The front is then joined to the back at the underarms and
worked in the round until the desired length is achieved.
Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armhole to work in
the round with decreases to taper the sleeves. All edges are
worked in a rib and bound off using the Italian Bind-off
technique. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neck edge
to work the final ribbing.

Knitwear’ demonstrating how to work the more complex parts
of the yoke construction

stitches on the wrong side of your work when working this stitch.
Take care not to overstretch your garment whilst it is wet as this can cause the Reverse Half Fisherman’s rib stitch to grow irreversibly; the growth amount may vary depending on the yarn used. It is recommended to gently steam block this garment.
